Large Casualty Underwriting Portfolio Manager – Zurich North America
Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Large Casualty Underwriting Portfolio Manager to join our National Accounts Large Casualty team. The portfolio management team covers all Large Casualty segments (Domestic, Multinational, and Excess) and lines of business (General Liability, Auto, Workers Compensation, and Umbrella/Excess Casualty). The manager will collaborate with underwriting teams to improve transactional quality and develop strategies that enhance portfolio profitability.
This position can be located at any location that is commutable to a Zurich office. Remote work is hybrid.

- Develop and implement business and underwriting strategies to meet segment objectives.
- Ensure pricing tools are calibrated and fit for purpose, incorporating current views on yield curves, loss costs, and expense loads.
- Drive segment strategies through collaboration with the field office network.
- Provide clear communication on business strategies, profitability objectives, priorities, and accountabilities.
- Evaluate and communicate key underwriting/marketplace issues to peers and senior management.
- Conduct segment analysis to ensure profitability and business growth.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing roles.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support.
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing roles.
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and 12 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support.
- Knowledge of casualty product lines and the insurance industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex portfolios.
- Technical knowledge of insurance operations and functions.
- Casualty lines experience; CPCU.
- Strong strategic experience assessing and anticipating market environment.
- Knowledge of loss trends, triangles, and rate making.
- Ability to quantify risk and experience with forecasting methods.
- Collaborative team player.
- Coaching and mentoring experience.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Experience interacting with the C‑Suite.
- Knowledge in risk selection, program design, and assessment.
- International casualty experience.
The proposed salary range is $ – $, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
