Job Summary
The Manager, Underwriting Governance will ensure PCS is viewed as a disciplined and efficient underwriter of High-Net-Worth business. This role will ensure PCS is underwriting as if the business was written on their own balance sheet. This person will act independently of the Field Underwriting team to ensure they are making decisions consistent with our capacity provider’s risk appetites and DUAs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular standardized underwriting file audits and complete reports to CUO and to capacity partners
- Create and track action plans that result from regular audits
- Conduct periodic targeted audits on specific strategic topics
- Provide regular reporting to capacity partners on adherence to underwriting authority and underwriting guidelines including rationale on accommodations
- Coordinate audits conducted by capacity providers or regulators, including providing supporting documentation and systems access as well as follow up action items
- Underwriting Guidelines and DUA:
- Support the Home Office Underwriting team:
- Establish PCS’s underwriting appetite through standard and partner specific Underwriting Guidelines
- Develop and maintain standard underwriting best practices, processes, and position papers that provide background knowledge, rationale, and guidance
- Establish and maintain PCS’ standard and partner-specific Delegated Underwriting Authorities
- Communication:
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Risk Management, Product Management, and Underwriting teams in the development and dissemination of training materials
- Communicate to capacity partners PCS’s underwriting appetite and strategies
- Underwriting Innovation:
- Partner with members of Home Office Underwriting, Field Underwriting, Risk Management, Product Management, Technology, and Sales & Distribution in identifying technologies that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Underwriting teams
- Develop process flows to implement new technology
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the personal lines marketplace preferably in Underwriting positions
- Proven collaborative, operational, and project management skills
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization to communicate and gain alignment around a vision
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting workflows
- Vendor management skills are preferred
- Experience in an MGA managing capacity partner relationships is preferred but not necessary

Location preference: The ideal candidate will live within a reasonable commuting distance of a PCS office to support regular on-site presence.
