Executive Underwriter / AVP, Underwriting Director – Large Property

Zurich Insurance is seeking an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director–Large Property for our Commercial Insurance team in the Atlanta office. As an AVP/Underwriting Director you will analyze and underwrite new and renewal commercial property business, using the Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority and ensuring a high‑level service to customers.

This is a market‑facing position that requires you to be visible in the marketplace, meet with our agents and brokers, and be in the office/market three days per week.

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
• Develop, maintain and collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business related needs.
• Build and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition, and work with customers and distributors to determine their insurance‑related needs and provide solutions.
• Support the organization’s sales culture by being a help point for agents, brokers and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to align with the organization’s appetite while balancing sound business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing area
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support
• Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an associate degree and 3 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing area
• Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an associate degree and 8 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience working in a team environment

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing area
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing area
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 12 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support and experience with Microsoft Office

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Technical knowledge of commercial property underwriting
• Established broker relationships (retail, select brokers) in Southeast region
• Sales execution mindset
• Creative problem‑solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Salary range: $98,300.00 – $, plus short‑term incentive bonus of 20%. For Executive Underwriter, proposed rate is $98,300.00 – $ with a 15% bonus. For AVP, Underwriting Director, proposed rate is $ – $ with a 20% bonus.
