As an Account Manager in Global Specialty Operations, you will partner with Specialty Auto underwriting teams, focusing on service experience, book‑of‑business management, and acting as a key contact for underwriters and brokers. This individual‑contributor role emphasizes strong communication, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills to manage a high‑volume workload.
- New and Renewal analysis/loss analysis and prepping entire account for quotes.
- Prepare and issue Binders, Policies, Endorsements and follow up for missing subjectivities.
- Perform rating analysis for renewal prep work and support the underwriting thought process.
- Review and analyze Endorsement requests, escalating issues as required, and process endorsements.
- Complete underlying policy analysis on each Excess policy and send for underwriting review (Terms, Conditions, exposures, aggregates, etc.).
- Serve as a point of contact for brokers, providing optimal customer‑service experience on behalf of the company.
- Maintain compliance standards and excellent account‑file management, including underwriting documentation.
- Participate in projects as requested or needed.
- Serve as a critical partner to underwriting teams within Global Specialty Wholesale, focusing on service experience, book‑of‑business management, retention, profitability, and growth.
- Accountable for overall service experience, facilitating functional experts, and delivering a differentiated experience.
- Build and maintain relationships with key wholesale broker contacts, handling renewal retention, quoting, and delivery of excellent service.
- Accompany underwriters and sales staff on marketing visits (target: 3 per year).
- Prepare submissions for rating and act as gatekeeper between broker, underwriter, and Operations Service Center.
- Perform initial prequalification on all renewal and new business submissions, generate a summary of findings, and recommend pursue or decline.
- Participate in monthly pre‑qualification meetings with underwriters, providing recommendations on renewal/new business accounts.
- Work independently to proactively maintain timeliness and information in underwriting files.
- Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with internal and external groups, aiming for win/win outcomes for brokers and the company.
- Support sales efforts through understanding of wholesale market strategies, industry programs, book mix, and partner performance.
- Use strong information‑gathering and diagnostic skills to solve problems.
- Coordinate activities for all supporting tasks (rating, broker/producer information, risk engineering, etc.) on new business and renewal accounts.
- Prioritize territory workload based on varying service requirements and customer needs.
- Monitor work performance to ensure quality objectives and service commitments are met.
- Facilitate routing of tasks and work among broker, underwriters, service teams, and home office teams.
- Provide backup for other Account Managers as needed, routing information between underwriting teams when local underwriters are unavailable.
- Support various projects as determined by Operations and/or underwriting staff.
- Prior Commercial Market insurance industry experience as an Account Manager, Rater, or similar role at an insurance carrier or agency.
- Functional knowledge of commercial lines rating experience.
- Knowledge of Commercial Property, Commercial Excess Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto, and General Liability coverages.
- Excess & Surplus experience a plus.
- College degree preferred.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and relationship‑building skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong technical ability.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
- Professional demeanor.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of Image Right or other insurance platforms desired.
- Ability to support central time‑zone business hours.
High‑speed broadband internet is required. Modem/router/gateway must be supplied by the provider and hardwired to the Hartford‑issued computer with an ethernet cable. Minimum upload/download speeds: 75 MB download / 10 MB upload.
CompensationThe annualized base pay range for this role is $59,200 - $88,800
