The primary focus is to provide leadership, support, and development to an assigned team of Underwriters within the Calgary office. You will lead a team in the underwriting, business development and profitable growth of an assigned portfolio of business, as well as growth and development of the team. Key products include Commercial General Liability, Property, Package, Auto, Workers Compensation, and Umbrella, with a primary focus on growth in the Canadian Middle Market segment.

This leader will be responsible for regional coverage and underwriting growth across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

You will be responsible for ensuring the team contributes to the success of Liberty Mutual Canada’s Vision: to lead with purpose and to support the growth, innovation, and impact of Canadian business. • Manage and support the recruitment, performance, and development of a team of underwriters located in the Calgary office. Focus on the team’s development of technical and business acumen skills, while achieving a high degree of employee engagement through a culture of success, empowerment, and accountability.
• Responsible for ensuring your assigned team exceeds allocated new business, renewal, retention, rate, and profit targets, in addition to aligning and executing on other strategic initiatives for the portfolio. Identify strategic areas for growth and support the associated business planning and forecasting.
• Work with the Calgary team to drive submission growth and to prospect and pursue new business within Liberty Mutual’s standards and guidelines. Review and negotiate policy terms and conditions consistent with Liberty Mutual’s corporate strategy.
• Drives clear broker strategy and expanded presence and relationship development with core partners and clients, through proactive initiatives and service execution. Acts as a leader in supporting the delivery of One GRS to the market.
