Greater New York Mutual Insurance Company (GNY) is seeking an
Underwriter to join its commercial lines team. This full‑time role is predominantly remote, with travel to the Edison, NJ office required for the first week of training and one week per quarter. The position offers competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

The Underwriter develops and fosters positive, professional relationships with agency partners while achieving company growth and profitability objectives. The role requires technical expertise, sound judgment, and consistent results in underwriting commercial lines package and umbrella policies.

• Develop and maintain strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, rating plans, and workflows
• Assess acceptability of commercial lines package and umbrella policies
• Use inspection reports, claims history, and applications to make underwriting decisions
• Determine appropriate premium levels and coverages based on filed rates and risk characteristics
• Maintain strong business relationships with assigned agencies, including travel and management responsibilities
• Meet or exceed company service standards for underwriting and processing applications, endorsements, renewals, and new business
• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required

• Minimum 4 years of commercial multi‑line and/or package underwriting experience (workers’ compensation and casualty preferred)
• Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft 365 required
• Professional designation (CPCU, CIC, ARM, AU) completed or in progress preferred
• Experience with Image Right preferred

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Proficient negotiation and analytical skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision‑making aligned with company guidelines

• Salary range: $77,500–$160,700 per year (subject to performance, experience, skills, and business needs)
