The Role
Brio Health is expanding its European clinical organization and is seeking a Clinical Support Specialist to support the clinical study and early adoption of the BrioVAD mechanical circulatory support (MCS) system across Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.
This is a home-office-based, field-facing role requiring frequent travel to implanting centers. The role is highly clinical and hands-on, supporting implant procedures, post-operative care, and ICU teams, while also developing strong technical expertise in the BrioVAD system.
This position is well suited for perfusionists, ICU nurses, or early-career MCS professionals looking to transition into a medical device field role. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy in the field, while receiving close mentorship from the Market Development Director and ongoing support from Medical Affairs, Quality, and R&D.
What You’ll Do Clinical & Procedural Support- Provide on-site clinical and technical support during BrioVAD implant procedures and post-operative management
- Support ICU teams with device operation, troubleshooting, and therapy optimization
- Serve as a trusted clinical partner to surgeons, perfusionists, ICU nurses, and VAD coordinators during early cases and routine use
- Support system setup, pre-implant checks, and device configuration
- Maintain deep technical knowledge of the BrioVAD system, controller, driveline, and related accessories
- Troubleshoot device and peripheral issues in real time, ensuring use in accordance with IFUs, training materials, and clinical protocols
- Support hospital onboarding and early-case execution at new and existing implanting centers
- Deliver structured, role-appropriate training to implanting physicians, perfusionists, and ICU staff
- Reinforce clinical best practices and contribute to continuous knowledge sharing across the field team
- Capture structured clinical and user feedback from sites and communicate insights to Market Development, Medical Affairs, and R&D
- Support early market development activities, including site qualification visits and clinical meetings
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Market Development, Medical Affairs, Quality, and Regulatory partners to support safe and effective system use
- Support clinical study activities as needed, without serving as a primary CRA
Candidates must bring hands-on exposure to cardiac or critical care environments, demonstrated by one of the following:
- Perfusionist, ICU nurse, or cardiac surgery–related clinical role
- Experience in a clinical or field-facing role at an MCS or cardiovascular medical device company
- 1–5 years of relevant clinical or industry experience
- Clear motivation and capability to develop into an independent Clinical Field Specialist
- Comfortable operating in high-acuity environments (OR and ICU)
- Technically curious, hands-on, and solutions-driven
- Able to work independently in the field with sound judgment on when to escalate
- Strong interpersonal skills and credibility with physicians and hospital staff
- Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to manage frequent travel and dynamic schedules across the DACH region
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Fluent German (required)
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Based in Germany, Austria, or the Netherlands
- Entry into a highly specialized mechanical circulatory support (MCS) field with a steep clinical and technical learning curve
- Direct mentorship from an experienced Market Development Director with hands-on exposure to early cases and site development
- Broad, real-world exposure across clinical operations, product, and early commercial execution
