As part of a major transformation of core operational processes, this internship places you at the center of two high‑visibility projects: establishing a new enterprise‑wide Hardware and Software Asset Management solution using the Flexera platform, and optimizing the project intake process on the Service Now IT Business Management platform. You will gain hands‑on experience with industry‑leading technologies, assist with business process analysis, and see firsthand how technology solutions are implemented to drive efficiency, ensure compliance, and support key stakeholders such as IT Finance and Legal.
Responsibilities- Perform analysis to understand user needs.
- Assist in the development and improvement of IT product(s) to meet user needs.
- Conduct tests and identify errors within the IT product(s).
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and debugging with associated IT product(s).
- Help with software implementations, providing training and support for staff who will operate the software.
- Participate in security monitoring and incident response services to protect HMH assets, infrastructure, and data.
- Perform market research to compare and summarize current market options and develop organizational position statements regarding emerging technologies.
- Consult with vendors, perform research, and evaluate products to assist in the selection and purchase of equipment and installation or upgrade of systems.
- Contribute to HMH's technical documentation and participate in policy, procedure, and standards development.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Available to work onsite 50% of the time with 50% remote work up to 40 hours per week during the program timeframe.
- Maintain open communication and a positive working relationship with team members.
- Maintain professional (business casual) dress and grooming.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Pursuing a degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, cyber security, advanced mathematics, data science, advanced analytics, clinical informatics, or program management.
- Current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Satisfactory customer service skills.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Minimum of 2 years of college or trade school education.
- Minimum of 3 months of IT experience or equivalent formal training with a letter of reference from a previous employer or professor.
- Technical or Project Management certifications helpful but not required.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Solid troubleshooting skills.
- Awareness of healthcare information technology (HIT) industry trends and a keen interest in information systems and technology.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work in a self‑directed manner, with guidance from the assigned project leader and internship program coordinator for support.
- Google, Citrix, ITIL, Project Management Professional (PMP), Scrum Master, and/or Clinical Informatics certifications.
Flat rate of $26.25 hourly. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market‑competitive total rewards package.
