We are seeking a motivated, technically skilled intern to help transform a graduate student team’s MVP code into a live, public-facing experience. This short-term position involves testing, refining, and deploying the application onto five Lenovo tablets for use in a public festival exhibit showcasing a history timeline. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable translating existing code into a working, maintainable deployment.
This is a remote position with occasional coordination with team members on-site.
The Muskegon Polish Festival is launching an interactive digital exhibit that reclaims the Polish-American story beyond stereotype and simplification. After earning first-place recognition at the UMSI Expo, the project now advances into full-scale production and public debut.

- Test and debug core features (interactive map, timeline, and multimedia elements).
- Configure and deploy the application on five Lenovo tablets for the exhibit display.
- Troubleshoot performance.
- Produce professional documentation for long-term sustainability and annual updates.
- Experience in React Native and Firebase.
- UMSI or comparable graduate/upper-level undergraduate student in Information Science, Computer Science, UX/UI, or Digital Media.
- Experience with HTML/CSS and platform debugging strongly preferred.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, outcome-driven environment.
- Strong systems thinking and attention to technical detail.
- Interest in digital humanities, public-facing tech, or mission-driven innovation.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working asynchronously with a non-technical team.
- 4–6 weeks (part-time, flexible schedule)
- Hourly compensation 25-27/hr based on candidate experience
- Engagement Scope: 50 project hours + 8 paid orientation hours (58 total)
- Schedule:
Paid orientation in March, including development meeting with agile group. Main work begins July and runs to mid-August. Flexible scheduling within that window.
The Technical Intern will work independently and, if and when needed, interface with Jason Piasecki, CEO of Revel, a marketing and brand strategy agency. This structure provides direct exposure to executive-level product oversight, digital experience standards, and real-world deployment strategy.
Professional ValueThis internship offers a rare opportunity to shepherd an award-winning academic project into live public deployment. The intern will gain demonstrable experience in MVP stabilization and exhibit technology deployment, and the nonprofit sector.
Upon successful completion, the intern may request a formal letter of recommendation documenting project leadership and technical contribution.
Application ProcessEmail a resume, brief statement of interest (½–1 page), and optional technical portfolio materials to Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
