This Consultancy is being established to support the Audience and Market Insights (AMI) unit’s technical capacity to generate reporting, prepare supporting documentation and research summaries, optimise data management, automate data analytics and business intelligence (including data analysis and reporting platforms – i.e. dashboard) for an increasing number of markets, new projects and analytical needs. The Data Analyst consultancy is created in a broad context which requires increased efficiency in how AMI operates, maximises use of data, integrates different data assets and increases agility in giving access to data.

Main Areas Identified For The Assignment Will Be

  • In collaboration with the International Fundraising Leadership Forum (IFL – of which UNICEF is a member) and its data analytics vendor (Adroit) provide technical support with the data preparation and data management for the Strategic Comparator Analysis (SCA) throughout the entire annual initiative cycle. Structure UNICEF income data and create the data files according to the defined protocols and share these with Adroit.

    Join and participate in the IFL meetings.
  • Using the financial data from the 16 participating INGOs, supplied by Adroit, once harmonised and consolidated, produce the SCA reporting, looking at opportunities for automation.
  • Assist with the production of the Global, regional and market reports which summarise income performance across Peers. These reports place UNICEF results in the context of other comparators’ performance. It enables fundraising leadership internationally, regionally, and at market level to understand their relative fundraising performance across channels and markets and most importantly identify growth opportunities.

Support with preparing and running key internal meetings.

  • Technical maintenance, update and new feature(s) development of AMI SCA dashboard.
  • For one other key AMI studies, optimise the study’s data flow with the aim of achieving efficiencies with Barometer reporting and improving access to the study’s results with dashboarding solution.

Scope Of Work

Working under the supervision of the Market Research Specialist, the Data Analyst consultant will be responsible for:

STRATEGIC COMPARATOR ANALYSIS

  • Income Analysis and Benchmarking: data preparation and data management for SCA annual cycle. Develop the SCA reports templates. Receive, harmonise and consolidate the PSFR data from Finance according to IFL protocol.
  • Reporting and Business Intelligence: produce Power BI dashboards and reports for SCA. 55 customised individual country reports where UNICEF fund raises. Global as well as Regional reporting.
  • Public Sector deep‑dive analysis: assess impact of the funding crisis on UNICEF versus other comparators, scope different scenarios for PSFR to address funding gap.
  • Cost Benchmarking initiative: as part of the new IFL Cost Benchmarking initiative, prepare the required data files for the harmonisation and consolidation of the data, in close collaboration with UNICEF Finance team and IFL’s vendor.
