Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Quantum / Cryptography Engineering Lead (Remote)

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced cybersecurity engineering leader to establish and lead an Enterprise Quantum Safe Program focused on preparing the organization's cryptographic environment for the emerging risks posed by quantum computing.

This role will define and execute the strategy for transitioning enterprise systems to post‑quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum‑safe architectures. The leader will work across security, infrastructure, application, and cloud engineering teams to identify where cryptography is used throughout the enterprise and modernize those implementations with quantum‑resistant algorithms and frameworks.

The position requires deep expertise in cryptography and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), along with the ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams. This leader will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive cryptographic inventory, including protocols, certificates, keys, HSMs, and key management systems, and establishing governance around algorithm agility and cryptographic lifecycle management.

Responsibilities include evaluating and implementing modern cryptographic libraries and protocols, supporting secure implementations of technologies such as TLS, SSH, and IPsec, and collaborating with security, architecture, and platform teams to ensure cryptographic standards are applied consistently across enterprise systems.

This role will also help establish cryptographic SBOM/CBOM inventories and partner with security and threat intelligence teams to assess evolving quantum computing risks. Initially, the position will be hands‑on, providing both technical leadership and direct engineering contributions while overseeing a small team of engineers supporting the program.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer/Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, cryptography engineering, network security, or secure systems engineering
  • Strong technical background in cryptography, including encryption algorithms, key management, and secure protocols
  • Experience managing or administering Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) in an enterprise environment
  • Proven experience delivering technical engineering initiatives or complex security programs from design through deployment
  • Experience working across infrastructure, application, and security teams in large enterprise environments
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineers or leading cross‑functional technical teams
  • Strong understanding of secure network protocols such as TLS, SSH, and IPsec
  • Deep technical expertise in cryptography, PKI, and secure networking
  • Strong engineering leadership and program management capabilities
  • Ability to translate complex security concepts into practical enterprise solutions
  • Strategic thinker with a hands‑on approach to solving complex security challenges
  • Ability to work within the Mountain Time Zone
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a related field or certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or equivalent
  • Experience implementing or evaluating post‑quantum cryptography (PQC) solutions
  • Familiarity with quantum‑safe networking approaches or quantum key distribution (QKD)
  • Experience with enterprise cryptographic tooling including OpenSSL/Boring

SSL, cryptographic libraries, HSMs, and KMS platforms
  • Experience developing cryptographic SBOM or CBOM inventories
  • Background in high‑security or regulated industries, such as financial services, aerospace, defense, or healthcare
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and modern infrastructure architectures
