Overview
This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following locations: AZ, FL, GA, NC, and TX. At First Citizens Bank we’re in the midst of a bold digital transformation—simplifying, consolidating and modernizing the way we serve our customers. We’re evolving toward a foundational North Star Architecture that enables us to scale smarter, move faster, and deliver experiences that truly differentiate us in the market.
This is not business‑as‑usual. We’re reimagining our digital banking platform from the ground up—rethinking how channels connect, how technology supports growth, and how teams collaborate to deliver with speed and purpose. If you’re energized by transformation, passionate about elegant architecture, and ready to help lay the technical bedrock for a digital‑first future—we want to talk to you.
We are looking for a strategic and technically skilled Solutions Architect to lead the design and integration of technology solutions across our Omni Channel services, including CIAM and Fraud, Assisted Channels, Digital Analytics and Go‑to‑Market platforms. You will serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders, driving the architectural vision for online and mobile banking experiences that are modern, scalable, secure, and customer‑centric.
Responsibilities
- Define and own CIAM and Fraud solution architectures for Digital Banking initiatives, including mobile, online banking, and authentication platforms.
- Create high‑quality architectural artifacts (diagrams, models, decision records) to support alignment and execution.
- Lead design reviews and provide architectural guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define integration strategies between internal systems and third‑party platforms.
- Ensure robust middleware and API designs that support scalability, security, reuse, and flexibility.
- Support seamless vendor integration with banking platforms and services.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into viable technical solutions.
- Act as a trusted technology advisor to product owners, engineers, and leadership.
- Ensure all solutions comply with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead or contribute to technical and security reviews.
- Guide and mentor development teams on technical patterns, best practices, and architecture standards.
- Support cross‑functional alignment and coordination across delivery teams.
- Evaluate and recommend tooling to support architecture governance, monitoring, and automation.
- Contribute to the evolution of the architecture practice and delivery methodologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in software application development OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in software application development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience with at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go).
- Minimum 5 years working with agile teams.
- Minimum 5 years experience working with front‑end programming languages (e.g., React, Node.js).
- Prior experience working with program and project delivery teams.
- 3–5 years of Domain Driven Design experience.
- Demonstrated ability with making architectural decisions that stick.
- Architecture certifications in AWS or Azure.
- Experience with developing microservices.
- Experience with managing containerized workloads.
- Experience in retail/corporate digital banking or fintech strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of API design, middleware platforms, and microservices.
- Experience with third‑party vendor integration and orchestration.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern Dev Ops practices.
- Working knowledge of security, data privacy, and compliance in the financial services domain.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to produce and communicate technical artifacts clearly and effectively.
