Thisrole in a nutshell
You’ll harness your detailed knowledge of GDPR and the UK data protection regime to ensure that OVO meets its obligations to handle and process personal data in a sustainable way.
You’ll be responsible for managing our data protection framework, fostering positive and constructive relationships with the ICO and guiding our business through the complexities of data protection compliance and risk. You’ll be a cornerstone in our strategic pursuit of net zero carbon living, ensuring that our data protection efforts align with and support our mission and objectives.
This role will be offered on a 9 month fixed-term contract.
Your key outcomes will be- Lead and develop OVO’s second-line data protection compliance function to ensure a clear and well informed understanding of all data protection obligations and risks across our business.
- Oversee the data protection advisory process to ensure that our business is well supported with effective and consistent data protection advice and guidance.
- Manage Data Protection Impact Assessments, to ensure that data protection controls are delivered in any new or changed processing of personal data.
- Lead the resolution of data protection incidents, driving customer-focussed remedies and meeting the reporting requirements with the ICO.
- Develop positive and constructive relationships with the ICO to enhance OVO’s regulatory position and reputation.
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of data protection systems, including procedures and training programs to ensure staff across multiple sites are well-versed in data protection standards.
- Manage and develop a skilled team of data protection professionals, ensuring they are capable and motivated to meet strategic goals.
- are seen as the "go to" person for data protection with experience of operating in similar roles in other organisations.
- apply your expertise of GDPR in an innovative way. You’re able to use your deep subject matter knowledge and experience to find practical solutions to support our zero carbon mission.
- have a Data Protection specific qualification such as CIPP/E or CIPM
