Role SummaryBooks-A-Million is seeking a Business Analytics Manager to support a major digital transformation initiative focused on building a modern data lakehouse. Reporting to the SVP of Data & Analytics, this role will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and the technical team—defining the analytics roadmap, gathering requirements, and ensuring solutions align with organizational needs. The ideal candidate is versatile, data-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, greenfield environment.
RoleResponsibilities Business Partnership & Requirements Gathering
- Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business functions to understand analytical needs and translate them into well‑defined technical requirements that inform the design and evolution of the enterprise data lakehouse.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of enterprise data sources, systems, and core business processes to ensure analytics solutions align with operational realities and strategic priorities.
- Perform complex ad‑hoc analyses to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities, delivering actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision‑making.
- Transform business questions into measurable metrics and analytical frameworks that drive clarity and accountability across the organization.
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of intuitive, executive‑ready dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Ensure reporting solutions are scalable, user‑friendly, and aligned with business performance KPIs.
- Partner closely with Data Engineering to ensure data pipelines, transformations, and data models effectively support analytical use cases and reporting requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the data lakehouse architecture to meet evolving business needs.
- Contribute to the development and execution of data governance standards, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems.
- Champion a data‑driven culture by providing training, support, and guidance to business users on reporting tools, dashboards, and self‑service analytics capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Analytics Manager, Business Intelligence Analyst, or in a similar role.
- High proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Experience with Python is a strong plus.
- Expertise in at least one major data visualization tool (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.).
- Highly proficient with MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear and actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience in the retail industry is a strong plus.
