Field Hardware EngineerApex Systems is immediately hiring for a Field Hardware Engineer with a large technology company in Knoxville, TN! This position requires a currently active, DOE-issued Q Clearance.

Location: Knoxville, TN (candidate will work from home and disptach to different client sites in the region to provide hands-on support)
Travel Requirement:
Up to 50-75% (Must have own vehicle; mileage reimbursement will be provided). Up to 300 weekly mile radius.
Contract Duration/Type: 24+ Months (2-Year+ Contract) / W2
Pay Rate: $40-45/hour (depending upon experience)
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (40 hours/week), potential overtime.
Position Summary:We are seeking a Field Hardware Engineer to support the client customer data centers by resolving hardware and infrastructure issues. This role requires hands‑on experience with enterprise‑level systems and a strong understanding of data center operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across IT infrastructure including client and multi‑vendor enterprise systems, servers, storage, and networking.
- Perform rack and stack, hardware installations, disk drive and memory replacements, and hot swaps.
- Utilize software tools for daily operations and troubleshooting in a data center environment.
- Provide client‑facing support with professionalism and technical expertise.
- Collaborate with team members during a 45–90 day training period; you will not be expected to work solo during this time.
- Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DOE‑issed Q Clearance
- Must have a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a mailing address.
- 2–3 years of hands‑on experience with servers, cables, racks, workstations, routers/switches, and network infrastructure.
- Experience in data center environments is highly preferred.
- Strong client‑facing communication skills.
- CompTIA+ certification is a plus.
