Lead UX Designer Developer Tooling

Position: Lead UX Designer for Developer Tooling
Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Lead UX Designer for Developer Tooling for a long-term remote
contract assignment with one of our premier Management Consulting clients.


** Must be located in EST/CST timezones due to many earlier-morning meetings**

Will be joining a smaller team focused on providing innovative UX Design and Solutions for a centralized platform hosting developer-oriented toolsets used by a wide number of developers across many teams to perform various (and constantly evolving) functions. In addition to having solid UX Design experience and sensibilities, this person needs have good technical knowledge and aptitude to be able to understand software developer needs and tendencies, along with what goes on "under the hood" beyond the UX/UI layer that affects how development services are utilized and interact.

Experience with AI - both for UX Design activities such as prototyping/mockups as well as for Agentic AI based applications - is highly preferred

Responsibilities :

• Own UX work streams from discovery and concept development through detailed design and delivery, under the direction of a design lead and in collaboration with a small team of designers.
• Partner closely with product managers and engineering teams to define requirements, shape user flows, and translate complex technical capabilities into intuitive, high-quality experiences. Rapidly prototype and iterate using modern AI-powered design tools to accelerate validation and decision-making.
• Contribute to and evolve the design system to ensure scalable, consistent patterns across the platform.

Required Skills :

• 5-10 years of UX design experience, with a strong track record delivering complex, platform-based or B2B products.
• Experience designing for technical users, especially developer tooling preferred.
• Ability to fight for elegantly simple solutions even when the problem space seems to increase complexity.
• Demonstrated expertise in interaction design, systems thinking, and shipping production-ready work in close collaboration with PM and engineering partners.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining design systems.
• Comfortable leveraging AI-driven prototyping and research tools to speed up exploration and iteration.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to operate independently while aligning closely with leadership direction.
• Must have a college degree
