We are seeking an experienced IT Strategy & Project Management Office (PMO) Transformation Consultant to support a large-scale enterprise modernization initiative.
This role offers a unique blend of hands-on enterprise project management and strategic PMO transformation leadership.
The selected consultant will play a critical role in transforming an established PMO into a scalable, AI-enabled shared services model while also managing high-visibility IT initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing Enterprise Project Management (20-50%)- Lead full lifecycle IT projects from initiation through closeout.
- Develop and maintain key project documentation (charters, schedules, risk logs, status reports, benefit realization plans).
- Facilitate governance reviews and phase gates.
- Monitor scope, schedule, cost, and risk; manage change control processes.
- Provide executive-level reporting and dashboards.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise governance and financial controls.
- Modernize PMO operating model, roles, and governance structures.
- Improve intake, prioritization, and portfolio management processes.
- Standardize delivery frameworks and reporting cadence.
- Implement AI-driven workflow automation and reporting tools.
- Develop portfolio dashboards and predictive analytics.
- Enable data-driven resource optimization and financial visibility.
- Align demand planning with portfolio governance.
- Integrate enterprise architecture checkpoints into intake and delivery.
- Support the establishment of architecture governance processes.
- Strengthen Cap Ex/OpEx tracking and forecasting.
- Embed benefits realization and ROI measurement into portfolio governance.
- Drive stakeholder alignment and executive communication.
- Develop and deliver training and enablement programs.
- Ensure sustainable adoption of new processes and tools.
- Minimum 10 years of IT Project Management experience.
- 7+ years in IT Strategy, PMO leadership, or enterprise program management.
- Demonstrated experience redesigning PMOs (intake, governance, portfolio optimization).
- Proven success implementing AI or analytics in project reporting and decision-making.
- Strong financial governance experience (budgeting, forecasting, benefits tracking).
- Proficiency with enterprise PM tools (e.g., Service Now, JIRA, Clarity, Power BI).
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills (SQL preferred).
- Experience managing multiple concurrent enterprise-level initiatives.
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly in complex or regulated environments.
- PMP Certification.
- Agile or Product Owner certification.
- MBA or advanced degree in IT, Business, or Finance.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as SAFe, TOGAF, ITIL, COBIT, or Prosci.
- Hybrid role:
Remote work with required onsite presence in Sacramento, CA for three consecutive days (Tuesday-Thursday) every six weeks. - Must reside and work within the United States.
- Availability during standard Pacific Time business hours (8:00 AM‑5:00 PM).
