IT Consultant, IT Project Manager
Position Overview
The IT Manager will serve as the business-facing technology leader supporting manufacturing and finance operations running on a customized IBM i (AS/400) ERP. This role bridges manufacturing operations, finance, and ERP development, ensuring systems remain stable, scalable, and aligned to business needs through a multi-year platform horizon.
Key Responsibilities- Lead ERP developers and business analysts supporting manufacturing and finance
- Partner directly with production, operations, and finance leaders
- Own requirement gathering, prioritization, and delivery
- Oversee ERP change management and release processes
- Guide enhancements involving shop floor control, inventory, RF barcoding, and EDI
- Evaluate feasibility, cost, and approach for manufacturing technology initiatives
- Serve as IT partner for operational improvements (workflow changes, automation, RF expansion)
- Support ERP integrations with MES, Boomi, and other tools (strategic oversight, not hands‑on builds)
- Prepare the organization for eventual cloud ERP migration
- IBM i, AS/400, iSeries, System i, IBM Power Systems, Power8, LPAR, RPG, CL, DB2, Implementation
Skills & Qualifications
- Working knowledge of IBM i / AS/400 environments
- Ability to read and understand RPG / RPG ILE and CL code
- ERP change management experience
- Strong business communication and leadership skills
- Few years in leadership as a manager
- 8+ years in manufacturing IT / ERP roles
- Prior experience leading ERP teams (developers, analysts)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: work orders, shop floor control, inventory management, barcoding/RF
