You will build the frameworks, standards and operational foundations that enable effective GenAI delivery across the group, while also providing strategic analysis to guide our long-term investment decisions and AI roadmap.
This role is based in Cardiff with a hybrid working model, combining time in the office with remote work. Occasional travel may be required to support group-wide initiatives and engage with stakeholders across the organisation.
- Operational Excellence & Value Delivery – Develop and embed the GenAI operating model, roles, responsibilities and ways of working.
- Set governance, risk and quality assurance standards, supported by playbooks and best practice guides.
- Build KPIs, success metrics, impact measurement frameworks and leadership dashboards with FP&A.
- Track benefits realisation and conduct post-implementation reviews.
- Maintain prioritisation and portfolio management processes, including business case review and investment challenge.
- Monitor portfolio health, recommend adjustments, and provide senior delivery assurance to major programmes.
- Strategic Analysis & Planning – Assess GenAI value potential across the organisation and quantify benefits (cost, revenue, efficiency, capability).
- Build business cases for major investment themes and identify new use cases and emerging opportunities.
- Model scenarios, adoption pathways and competitive/industry impacts; evaluate build/buy/partner options.
- Produce strategic insights and position papers to support executive decisions.
- Contribute to group AI strategy and policy development and represent the CoE in strategic and cross-functional forums.
- Note:
The Solution Architects are part of the Architecture practice within the CTO organisation which reports into the Chief Technology Officer.
- Experience in strategy, operations, transformation, or a similar discipline.
- Proven experience developing operating models and governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills, including business case development and financial modelling.
- Ability to navigate and influence senior stakeholders in complex matrix environments.
- Knowledge of programme and/or portfolio management methodologies.
- Understanding of GenAI concepts, use cases, and implementation considerations.
- Ability to distil complex information into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including senior-level presentations.
- Familiarity with value management and benefits realisation approaches.
- Intellectually curious with a strong interest in emerging technology.
- Pragmatic, delivery-focused and comfortable working at pace.
- High integrity and commitment to value creation.
- Resilient and adaptable in a changing environment.
- Collaborative, confident and able to build credibility quickly.
- Comfortable bringing structure to ambiguity.
- Hybrid role with travel to Cardiff required a minimum of 2 days a week.
- Direct influence over how the organisation captures value from GenAI and exposure to executive leadership.
- Opportunity to shape and build critical operational and strategic GenAI capabilities.
- Broad visibility across business units, functions and geographies.
- Platform to grow into senior roles in strategy, transformation or technology.
- Hybrid working from Cardiff, with some travel across the group.
- Benefits include up to £3,600 of free shares after one year, 33 days holiday increasing to 38, plus optional additional leave; recognised as a Great Place to Work for Women, Wellbeing, and overall culture.
