Description

Reporting to the Application Manager, the Application Specialist provides day‑to‑day support of the line of business applications used by HBK teams. Additionally, the Application Specialist acts as technical resource to management and staff assisting in the standardization and implementation of application and other technology initiatives that align with the Firm’s overall strategic plan and its commitment to its staff, clients, and communities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist client service professionals’ staff and IT in piloting and deployment of new products and upgrades to existing applications.
  • Support application and data integration efforts during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Complete current state analysis, requirements gathering, process workflows, and other documentation.
  • Act as an escalation point for Help Desk and other staff for application‑related technical issues.
  • Drive resolution of technical and business issues by using the applications, help files, vendor support, blogs, user forums or other online resources.
  • Work closely with outside vendors.
  • Serve as onsite representative of the IT team monitoring and implementing existing and new technologies in assigned office.
  • Appropriately prioritize both IT projects and day‑to‑day operations.
  • Understand business needs, educate staff on technology and how to use it as a strategic asset.
  • Stay up to date with key technology development/issues within the technology and accounting industry, specifically enhancements of the Firm’s audit applications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or information technology preferred. Equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable.
  • Three to five years’ experience supporting applications in the accounting industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with the business on a non‑technical level, and with the IT department on a more technical level.
  • Resourceful and innovative problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deadlines at one time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate solution and resolution information to end users.
  • Passion for technology and interest in exploring new technologies.
  • Willingness to travel to remote offices and industry events as needed.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule hours to ensure successful completion of projects.
