This role is fully remote and open to candidates across all 50 U.S. states. If you’re located in the Greater Denver, Colorado area, you’ll also have optional access to our office in the Denver Tech Center (DTC).
The Principal User Experience Architect will support the design and architecture of user experiences across Gradera’s product ecosystem. This role bridges UX, systems thinking, and responsible AI design—crafting end‑to‑end experiences that are intuitive, scalable, and resilient to interaction risks.
You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and AI Research to define user journeys, design frameworks, and interaction models that support safe and effective AI use. This is a hands‑on craft and strategy role suited for someone who can navigate ambiguity, influence at a senior level, and help mature a growing design function.
What You’ll Do Experience Strategy & Architecture- Define and own UX architecture across product lines, ensuring consistency, clarity, and system‑level cohesion.
- Create frameworks, user flows, and interface models that support responsible AI use and mitigate interaction‑level risks.
- Translate ambiguous problem spaces into structured design approaches and long‑term design strategy.
- Lead end‑to‑end UX initiatives from research to prototypes to final interaction patterns.
- Produce high‑fidelity prototypes, design systems components, and interaction guidelines.
- Conduct design explorations for complex AI features, including trust indicators, risk mitigation workflows, and model evaluation UX.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and AI teams to align on problem definition, requirements, and user needs.
- Facilitate design reviews, critique sessions, and decision‑making frameworks across the organization.
- Advocate for user‑centered, ethical, and inclusive design principles throughout the company.
- Architect interactions that anticipate system‑level risk, ambiguity, and edge cases inherent to AI.
- Collaborate with Technical Teams to design meaningful, interpretable user experiences.
- Develop standards and guidelines for safe, transparent, and effective use of AI within Gradera’s platform.
- Represent Gradera in conferences, industry forums, and design/AI events when appropriate.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, workshops, and design education.
- Help evangelize design maturity and best practices within an early‑stage startup.
- 8+ years of experience in UX Design, UX Architecture, or Interaction Design roles (startup experience a strong plus).
- Demonstrated expertise designing complex systems (AI tools, enterprise platforms, data products, or technical interfaces).
- Strong portfolio that showcases thought processes, system thinking, and high‑level UX architecture.
- Deep knowledge of design patterns for responsible AI, human‑AI interaction, or risk‑aware UX (preferred).
- Comfort balancing hands‑on design work with strategic frameworks and architectural documentation.
- Experience in AI/ML design, evaluation platforms, or developer tools.
- Familiarity with safety, alignment, or human‑centered AI principles.
