Supports in the neighborhood of 300+ SQL Server databases currently migrating from SQL Server 2019 to SQL Server 2022. The Department of Motor Vehicles is implementing high‑availability solutions for several systems, increasing reporting and analysis services across SharePoint, Microsoft System Center, Team Foundation Server, and others. The position also addresses growing security concerns for these assets. In addition, the role will supplement the existing SQL DBA team with production support activities such as OS updates, security updates, and other after‑business‑hours duties.
Responsibilities include maintaining logical and physical data models, data dictionaries, and model documentation. This is a long‑term, ongoing assignment requiring on‑site presence; regional candidates in SC, GA, and NC are preferred. The candidate will work within a team of 6 database engineers, business analysts, and server support staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities- Set up and maintain data replication and mirroring
- Backup and recovery
- Troubleshoot SQL Server performance issues as they occur, including after‑hours
- SQL Server monitoring
- Install and configure new SQL Servers
- Develop and support data warehouse and cubes through SQL Server Analysis Services
- Migrate SQL Server databases to SQL Server 2022
- Develop reports using SSRS
- Support SSIS packages
- Develop database design, development, and management standards
- Consult with developers regarding database design
- Implement and support 3rd‑party databases for vendor‑supplied applications
- Analyze, develop, and support stored procedures and SQL
- Business Intelligence: design, develop, and manage dashboards and reports through a BI solution
- Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models using ERwin Data Modeler
- Ensure database designs support scalability, integrity, and performance requirements
- Collaborate with data architects, developers, and business analysts to translate business requirements into data models
- Modeling activities required in Oracle databases, and may be required for MS SQL databases
