Overview
The Application Specialist is responsible for the support, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise applications used across the organization. This role acts as a liaison between end‑users, IT, and vendors to ensure business applications are functioning properly, meeting user needs, and continuously improving in efficiency and usability. The specialist provides end‑user training, documentation, troubleshooting, and assists in system upgrades and implementation projects.
Responsibilities- Provide functional and technical support for assigned enterprise applications (e.g., POS, ERP, HRIS, LMS, finance systems).
- Monitor application performance and user activity; troubleshoot issues and elevate when necessary.
- Configure application settings, maintain user roles and permissions, and manage system integrations and data feeds.
- Assist in the implementation and testing of new applications, modules, and updates.
- Work closely with business users to understand workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver solutions.
- Create and maintain application documentation, user guides, SOPs, and training materials.
- Coordinate with vendors for application support, patches, and product enhancements.
- Support data migration, reporting, and analytics needs through queries or BI tools.
- Participate in UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and quality assurance activities.
- Maintain compliance with data security policies and ensure proper handling of sensitive information.
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis)
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or equivalent training and experience is desired.
- Project management skills are a definite asset.
- Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
- Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment with strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must possess skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and One Note.
- Must hold a TRIBAL GAMING LICENSE or can obtain one.
- Work schedule flexibility.
- Must be at least twenty‑one (21) years of age.
- Wide range of hardware and software knowledge.
- Experience in application support within [industry‑specific environment: casino/hospitality, healthcare, retail, etc.].
- Knowledge of ITIL framework or ticketing systems (e.g., Service Now, Fresh service).
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools.
- Understanding of data privacy and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR).
- Certification in relevant applications or systems is a plus.
- The casino environment is hectic, fast‑paced, and often crowded and noisy. May be exposed to casino‑related environmental factors, including, but not limited to, secondhand smoke, excessive noise, and constant exposure to the general public.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with guests in English, specific to the position, duties, and responsibilities.
- Primarily office‑based with occasional on‑site support or remote work as permitted.
- May require evening or weekend availability during system upgrades or emergencies.
- On‑call support may be required on a rotational basis.
