We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Live Video Services Technical Lead to take ownership of the delivery, support, and continuous improvement of our live video services covering sports and media use cases.
This role requires deep subject matter expertise, strong technical leadership, and a proactive approach to operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.
About the RoleAs a Live Video Services Technical Lead at Reuters Imagen, you will be responsible for:
Technical Leadership & Expertise- Serve as the subject matter expert for live video services, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-performing systems.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Lead the design and implementation of solutions that enhance the supportability, reliability, and availability of live video services.
- Act as a change agent to drive continuous improvement in operational processes, procedures, and tooling.
- Define and enforce best practices for service monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Lead the technical recovery of production services during major incidents, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal impact.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide technical input and analysis to support both short-term tactical decisions and long-term strategic planning.
- Collaborate with architecture and product teams to align service evolution with business goals.
- Architect and validate solutions that meet performance, scalability, and operational requirements.
- Conduct risk analysis and technical planning to ensure accurate and timely deployment of new services and updates.
To be our Live Video Services Technical Lead
, you will likely have:
- Proven experience in managing and supporting live video or broadcast production environments for sports.
- Strong understanding of video streaming protocols, encoding/transcoding workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical recovery during high-pressure incidents.
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog) and incident management platforms (e.g., Pager Duty, Opsgenie).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
