Remote AI​/ML Engineer - Speech & Models Leader

Awarri Technologies is excited to announce an opening for an AI/ML Engineer to join our innovative Engineering team, based remotely from Ikorodu. • Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning models and AI systems.
• Own Speech AI systems end to end, from data and model design to production deployment and monitoring
• Lead the design, training, fine-tuning, and evaluation of ASR and TTS models used in live systems
• Make architecture and model tradeoffs that balance quality, latency, cost, and reliability
• Build and maintain scalable training and inference pipelines using PyTorch and GPU acceleration
• Drive improvements in speech quality, robustness, and latency across real-world conditions
• Own speech data pipelines including preprocessing, augmentation, alignment, and labeling workflows
• Maintain and evolve phoneme inventories, lexicons, and G2P pipelines
• Diagnose and resolve failure modes such as alignment issues, pronunciation drift, tone degradation, and rare-word errors
• Define and uphold evaluation standards using metrics such as WER, CER, MOS, MCD, F0, and latency
• Ensure models meet quality and performance gates before production release
• Partner closely with backend and infrastructure teams to ship reliable, scalable speech services
• Lead technical decision-making for Speech AI components across the platform
• Mentor and unblock junior engineers working on speech-related systems

• Take full accountability for speech system outcomes in production, not just model performance

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or a related discipline
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R
• Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Tensor Flow, PyTorch)
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and statistical analysis
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus
