IT Support, Systems Administrator
Description
About the RolePro Ampac, a nearly $5 billion packaging company, is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to join our Cloud & Digital Workplace Services team. This is a 100% remote position supporting a large, growing server estate across multiple domains in on-premises virtualized and Microsoft Azure environments. As Pro Ampac continues its growth through strategic acquisitions, this role will be part of the team stabilizing, standardizing, and scaling that infrastructure.
This is a hands‑on, execution‑focused role for an administrator who thrives in a complex environment, takes pride in clean and well‑documented systems, and wants to grow with a company investing heavily in its infrastructure. You will own day‑to‑day server operations, file server and permissions remediation, Azure IaaS and AVD maintenance, application administration, monitoring, and backup support — working closely with a collaborative team of cloud and infrastructure engineers.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Deploy, configure, and administer Windows Server instances across on-premises virtualized and Azure-hosted environments; manage the full server lifecycle from provisioning through decommissioning.
- Install and manage core Windows Server roles and features (File Services, Print Services, IIS); monitor server health through event log analysis and alerting platforms.
- Audit, remediate, and document NTFS and share permissions across a complex, inherited multi‑site file server environment; enforce RBAC standards and apply least‑privilege principles.
- Create, modify, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPOs); manage service accounts, scheduled tasks, and local security policies.
- Manage Azure RBAC and IAM group assignments, Azure DNS records, SMTP relay whitelisting, and Azure Policy compliance monitoring.
- Monitor and track EOL Azure resources; manage VM resizes, disk expansions, and Automation Account schedules (auto on/off, reboot scheduling) through change management.
- Monitor Azure File Sync and support storage expansion as needed.
- Execute Azure Backup operations: configure policies, monitor job health, and perform escalated file and server restores.
- Support Fin Ops practices using Flexera and Azure cost tooling; generate rightsizing reports, clean up resource tags, and surface optimization opportunities.
- Perform Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) maintenance: host pool and session host management, golden image patching, FSLogix profile management and resets, and performance troubleshooting.
- Administer Printer Logic within the AVD environment; manage printer assignments and troubleshoot print connectivity for virtual desktop users.
- Utilize Nerdio Manager for AVD host pool automation and image lifecycle management where applicable.
- Manage Logic Monitor alert queues for assigned infrastructure; investigate, resolve, or elevate alerts and participate in alert tuning.
- Administer Lansweeper, AD Audit, Go Anywhere, and other assigned server applications; manage software upgrades through change control.
- Support Veeam and/or Zerto backup operations: monitor job health, execute restores, and maintain backup coverage documentation.
- Write basic Power Shell scripts for server administration, AD queries, and reporting.
- Resolve Tier 2/3 server incidents and service requests via Service Desk Plus with clear communication and thorough documentation.
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, Azure tagging, and Active Directory server descriptions; participate in CAB with well-prepared change requests.
- 3–5 years of hands‑on Windows Server administration experience in an enterprise environment.
- Strong Windows Server fundamentals: server roles and features, event log analysis, performance monitoring, storage management, and OS-level troubleshooting.
- Solid Active Directory knowledge: users, groups, OUs, GPOs, DNS integration, and domain concepts; multi‑domain experience is a plus.
- Proven experience with NTFS and share permission remediation in complex, inherited environments.
- Hands‑on Azure IaaS experience: VM lifecycle management, RBAC/IAM, DNS records, Azure Backup, resource groups, and Azure Portal.
- Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) experience: host pools, session hosts, image…
