Training Developer (Security Awareness)

Contract type:
Independent contractor

Program:
Information Security – Annual Security Awareness Training

Availability required:
June to end of August (core delivery window)

Working style:
Highly collaborative and iterative development with Wellington stakeholders (Information Security SMEs + program lead)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Training Developer to partner with our Information Security program to build and package our annual, company wide Security Awareness training. Subject matter content is produced by Information Security SMEs; you will convert that content into a polished, high impact learning experience suitable for delivery in a large theatre environment and for distribution via our learning platform.

A successful engagement may lead to additional paid per job opportunities supporting broader Enterprise Risk training programs.

What you’ll deliver (key outputs)

You will be responsible for end-to-end production of the learning artefacts, including:

  • Animated PowerPoint deck (primary deliverable)
    • Cutting edge information security visuals, motion graphics, and animations
    • Strong visual storytelling, consistent styling, and corporate brand alignment
    • Optimized for live presentation in a large theatre setting (readability, transitions, media reliability)
  • Audio and video editing for theatre grade playback
    • Edit and master voiceover audio (levels, EQ, noise reduction, compression as appropriate)
    • Edit video inserts and ensure suitable format/encoding for reliable large room playback
    • Ensure media assets are organized, versioned, and embedded/linked appropriately
  • LMS packaging for Wellington’s Cornerstone environment (SCORM)
    • Package the final training for upload/playback in Cornerstone (Cornerstone OnDemand) LMS
    • Produce a clean SCORM package (SCORM 1.2 or 2004 as required by the platform) with predictable navigation and completion tracking
    • Implement/maintain text to voice (TTS) conversion scripts within the SCORM package, where applicable
  • Iteration + QA
    • Work through iterative review cycles with Information Security (content accuracy) and Wellington stakeholders (look/feel, usability, timing)
    • Perform playback testing for AV reliability (video/audio sync, slide timing, transitions, font rendering)
    • Provide release notes and “what changed” summaries each iteration
What we’re looking for (must have skills)
  • Expert level PowerPoint production: advanced animation, motion design principles, slide engineering, and performance optimization
  • Strong information security visual design sensibility (modern cyber graphics, iconography, data style visuals, clean motion)
  • Proven audio editing capability (voiceover workflows, mastering for clarity, consistent loudness)
  • Proven video editing/encoding capability (formats, compression choices, playback reliability)
  • Experience producing SCORM packages for an LMS and troubleshooting common SCORM/LMS issues
  • Comfort implementing TTS workflows and scripts as part of packaged eLearning/SCORM output
  • Ability to work in an iterative stakeholder environment: incorporate feedback quickly, maintain version control, and manage change cleanly
  • Professional discretion: ability to handle internal/security related content appropriately
Nice to have
  • Prior experience with Cornerstone (Cornerstone OnDemand) specifically
  • Familiarity with accessibility best practices (captions, readable layouts, color contrast)
  • Experience converting SME content into compelling narrative learning experiences
  • Ability to develop reusable templates/components for future training modules
How the engagement typically runs
  • Kick off: align on scope, module structure, style references, and delivery dates
  • Storyboard / Build / Review cycles: rapid iterations with SMEs and Wellington reviewers
  • Finalizations: theatre ready PPT + validated audio/video + SCORM package + handover documentation
Logistics & availability
  • You must have availability between June and end of August for iterative development cycles and timely delivery.
