B Partners is seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain modern data infrastructure that powers our investment, research, and operations teams. This role focuses on creating and maintaining scalable pipelines, reliable workflows, and clean data models that enable decision-making across the firm. The ideal candidate is technically strong, works well autonomously, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver investment, operations, and client data across the firm.
- Develop and maintain data models in dbt, implementing tests, documentation, and lineage tracking as standard practice.
- Build and optimize analytical datasets in Snowflake to support reporting and business intelligence.
- Write and maintain Airflow DAGs, Python, SQL for scheduled and event-driven workflows, following CI/CD practices for deployment.
- Collaborate across engineering, analytics, and business teams – integrating into a firm where everyone contributes beyond their lane.
- Identify manual or fragile processes and build automated, sustainable replacements. Own problems end-to-end.
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure reliability and quality.
- Implement monitoring and alerting (Datadog) to catch pipeline failures and data quality issues before they reach stakeholders.
- Translate business logic from legacy SQL Server systems into clean, tested dbt models as part of ongoing platform modernization.
- Contribute to the adoption of containerization, orchestration, and cloud-native solutions to enhance scalability and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team engineering standards.
- 3-5+ years of experience in data engineering roles.
- Required:
Strong Python and SQL. Comfortable writing production code, not just notebooks. - Required:
Hands-on Airflow experience writing DAGs, debugging failures, managing dependencies. Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud warehouse. Working knowledge of SQL Server—able to read and reverse-engineer stored procedures, views, and legacy logic. - Comfortable working autonomously with minimal direction. Proactive problem-solver who acts on gaps without waiting for assignment.
- Experience with dimensional modeling and data warehouse design patterns.
- Able to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders clearly and without jargon.
- Preferred:
Prior experience in wealth management, investment operations, or fund administration strongly preferred. Candidates without industry experience should demonstrate rapid domain learning in past roles. - Preferred:
Experience with the following technologies: dbt, Docker, Terraform, Azure, Git Hub Actions, Datadog.

Base salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple reasons, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The expected base salary for the role will generally be between $115,000 - $130,000 per year at the commencement of employment, but the final salary offered may be outside this range based on these reasons and individual circumstances.
