We have been working in the AT sector for over 45 years and are one of the largest suppliers supporting students in receipt of the Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) in the UK. Sight and Sound Technology is a Disability Confident Employer.
The RoleAs an AT Trainer, you will deliver tailored software and hardware training sessions to disabled customers, including those with sensory impairments and specific learning difficulties (SpLDs). Working from home (online), on-site and in-person, you will maintain your calendar and set appointments to suit the users’ needs and your own. As part of the job, you will learn and develop new skills and knowledge on a range of software and hardware and work with a diverse community of users in education and the workplace.
MainDuties and Responsibilities
- Train customers on how to use software/hardware recommended according to individuals' specific requirements and adapt to their needs.
- Learn and develop knowledge of new and existing assistive software and hardware as required.
- Deliver training according to Sight and Sound Technology’s quality guidelines and code of conduct to ensure training is delivered effectively.
- Attend any relevant training or meetings and develop existing skills.
- Always be punctual with a flexible approach to working hours.
- Manage post-training reports and other paperwork effectively, accurately and promptly.
- Respect confidentiality to agreed disclosure levels.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues (report issues, request support, get results).
- Manage own schedule.
- Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required by Sight and Sound Technology Limited – for example attend exhibitions and demonstrate technologies.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Experience working with disabled people or people with visual impairment and/or neurodivergence.
- Able to assess individual learners’ needs and devise an appropriate Learning Plan (LP), delivering training to suit.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to autonomously learn new assistive software and hardware.
- Takes a logical approach to problem-solving and pays close attention to detail.
- Applies quality standards to all tasks.
- Experience working in the Further and Higher Education Sector
- Knowledge of Disabled Student Allowance or Student Support
- Experience in teaching or training on AT and hardware, including:
- Text-to-Speech software
- Dictation software
- Mind Mapping software
- Company Pension scheme
- Flexible working hours
