Network Analyst II

The Network Analyst II provides technical expertise in the design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of Godfrey & Kahn’s network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN, telecommunications systems). This role ensures network availability, performance, security, and resilience while collaborating with senior team members, security teams, vendors, and stakeholders on initiatives ranging from infrastructure upgrades to architectural redesigns.

This position also supports the firm’s evolving use of automation and AI-driven technologies within network operations, leveraging advanced analytics and intelligent monitoring tools to enhance performance, security posture, and operational efficiency.

This position is primarily in-office, with some work-from-home flexibility.

• Design, configure, implement, and document network architecture, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless access points, SD-WAN, and related hardware/software.
• Install, maintain, test, monitor, and troubleshoot network and telecommunications systems to resolve connectivity, performance, or security issues.
• Analyze network performance metrics, conduct in-depth diagnostics, identify bottlenecks, and recommend/implement optimizations or upgrades.
• Develop and maintain network diagrams, standards, runbooks, and technical documentation.
• Configure and manage network devices to ensure efficient, secure operation; enforce security policies and industry best practices.
• Provide Tier II/Tier III escalation support for complex network-related issues.
• Collaborate with external carriers and vendors to resolve circuit or service problems and evaluate new technologies.
• Participate in network expansion projects, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability design.
• Monitor network health using advanced monitoring platforms and respond to alerts and incidents in alignment with IT and Security operations processes.
• Support integration of cloud networking components (Azure, hybrid connectivity, VPN gateways, virtual networks).

• Leverage AI-driven network monitoring and analytics platforms to proactively detect anomalies, performance degradation, and potential security threats.
• Use automation tools and scripting (e.g., Power Shell, Python, infrastructure-as-code) to streamline network provisioning, configuration management, and remediation tasks.
• Participate in evaluating AI-enabled security and networking tools (e.g., behavioral analytics, automated incident response, intelligent traffic analysis).
• Collaborate with IT Security to ensure AI-powered monitoring tools are properly configured and aligned with firm security standards.
• Assist in developing operational playbooks that incorporate AI-based alerting and automated workflows.
• Maintain awareness of emerging AI technologies impacting network operations, cybersecurity, and data governance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in network administration or related IT fields.
• Strong attention to detail, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and LAN/WAN technologies.
• Experience with enterprise switch, firewall, SAN components, and Active Directory integration.
• Firewall and VPN configuration and management. Excellent problem solving, customer service, and communication skills.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Travel to branch offices (Appleton, Green Bay, Madison, Eau Claire) as needed.
