We are seeking a Software Systems Engineer to join our highly productive team. We develop and maintain web workflow applications, software interfaces to Oracle Manufacturing, and embedded software used by organizations across the satellite enterprise. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop COTS software, create test plans for classified systems and execute tests for software developed by the 6785 team.
You will work alongside the software development team and another software systems engineer, reporting directly to the manager. To succeed in this role you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Utilize risk, requirements, and configuration management information to deliver project management Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) solutions to the Satellite Enterprise
- Develop or modify information systems, including analyzing business and user needs, detailing requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as needed
- Develop new software or improve, modify, or correct existing software, particularly with interfaces to Oracle, with the aid of other developers in the organization
- Apply critical thinking to deliver user-experience solutions with a focus on user needs and business goals
- Implement, test, and maintain critical customer applications throughout their lifecycle
- Provide application administration support for users and partners including, but not limited to, enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing solution implementations
- Develop manual and automated test plans under the supervision of senior developers and execute unit, functional and regression testing
- Work closely with customers and software vendors to define and implement technical and business requirements
- Document technical standards and functionality tests to develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides
- Collaborate effectively with developers, testers, product managers, and other team members
Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range$87,400 - $168,800
Qualifications We Require- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Assurance or related field plus five years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with COTS implementation and administration.
- Experience with Oracle or SQL databases.
- Experience with full software development life cycle using iterative or agile methods.
- Active DOE Q-clearance or equivalent.
- Knowledge and experience developing and executing test plans for classified systems
- Knowledge of project and portfolio management processes in order to support the Project Management Organization
- Intimate familiarity with Gitlab
- Demonstrated Oracle development experience, particularly in Manufacturing modules
- Knowledge and experience in test planning methodologies, including the ability to analyze and determine solutions for issues
- Experience executing project management tools/methodologies (e.g., Kanban, Agile)
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking, synthesis and problem-solving skills, and ability to see and convey the big picture
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to a fast-paced, customer-focused operation
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in diverse team environments
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to organize and perform under strict deadlines and changing priorities
- Willing to take initiative, take ownership of job responsibilities, and make appropriate decisions to complete tasks
