One of the world’s leading cloud customer experience and enterprise software organizations is expanding its infrastructure automation team. Their focus is evolving and modernizing a complex, large-scale AWS environment while maintaining legacy enterprise systems and driving long-term platform transformation.
They are currently seeking a Dev Ops / Infrastructure Automation Engineer (Python-Focused) to join their growing team. This position will be heavily hands‑on, responsible for developing and maintaining a Python-based infrastructure templating engine, programmatically generating Terraform configurations, and automating AWS infrastructure across hybrid legacy and modernized environments. The ideal candidate is a strong Python engineer with deep AWS infrastructure experience — not just someone who scripts occasionally, but someone who writes and maintains substantial production code.
This role is remote within the US but EST or CST time zones are preferred.
Required Skills & Experience- 4+ years of hands‑on experience working with AWS infrastructure
- Strong experience with AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, VPCs, Systems Manager, WAF, Load Balancers, Route 53, Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail, Transfer Services, Peering Connections, Direct Connect, and Private Link
- 2+ years of Terraform experience in a production environment
- Strong Python programming background with experience writing non‑trivial, production‑level code
- Experience maintaining and enhancing a complex, existing codebase
- Familiarity with Jinja templating engine for infrastructure generation
- Experience using AWS Boto3 library
- Experience developing or supporting Python-based Lambda functions
- Strong understanding of AWS networking fundamentals (IP addressing, load balancers, VPC design, etc.)
- Experience automating real‑world production infrastructure environments
- Ability to read, refactor, and improve code written by others
- Experience working in hybrid legacy / modernization environments
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale AWS infrastructure
- Experience with platform migrations or large‑scale modernization efforts
- Experience in partially automated infrastructure or data center build‑outs
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to operate independently with strong ownership mindset
- Comfort leveraging AI tools (e.g., Copilot) while being able to explain architectural and design decisions
