Chenega Agile Real‑Time Solutions (CARS) was created with the purpose of providing integrated enterprise IT support to Federal customers both CONUS and OCONUS. CARS employs Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience working in the Federal marketplace.
Chenega Agile Real‑Time Solutions (CARS) is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to work on cloud‑based systems with a mission operations team. The team is involved in operations and sustainment of multiple operational cloud‑deployed geospatial solutions. A successful candidate will have experience with installation, configuration, administration, support, and maintenance of cloud‑based systems.
Responsibilities- Lead implementation of system changes, enhancements, and operational improvements
- Work directly with Government and contractor POCs to troubleshoot incidents and respond to security findings
- Perform advanced system health monitoring and complex operational checks
- Deploy security patches, updates, and bug fixes in test and production environments
- Administer and maintain cloud‑based Linux systems (RHEL 7+)
- Update and manage mission‑critical databases and datasets
- Develop and maintain:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Troubleshooting guides
- Operational and security documentation
- Support configuration management, system hardening, and compliance activities
- Ensure high availability and performance of operational systems
- Participate in on call / mission operations support, as required
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience OR
- Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
- Experience supporting AWS / cloud‑based operational environments
- Advanced Linux system administration (RHEL 7 or higher)
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Experience with ArcGIS / ESRI deployments and automation
- Experience with Amazon RDS and SQL technologies
- AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, or similar)
- Experience implementing IC cloud architecture methodologies
- Collaboration & workflow tools:
- Jira
- Confluence
- Rocket Chat
- Experience in Agile / low‑level engineering environments
- Knowledge of:
- System architecture
- Software development lifecycle
- Sustainment and operations practices
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as a proactive, self‑starting technical leader
- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time‑related constraints in a fast‑paced contracting environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting, as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.
- Good problem‑solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
