Position OverviewThe University of Arizona's Information Technology Services (UITS) invites you to apply for the role of Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst II (IT Quality Assurance Engineer II).
This position will be responsible for verifying our enterprise applications and providing guidance on process improvement initiatives using standard software testing methodologies within an Agile framework. Qualified candidates must be able to provide detailed reports to business and IT stakeholders and may design, develop, or modify SQL code or other computer programs, including-but not limited to-automated tests that address the University's needs and requirements.
This position may assist in University-wide quality assurance testing initiatives. As a remote member of the Software QA team, an analyst must be able to work independently and collaborate with the rest of the team on active projects.
Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment. If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work. For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws.
A comparable hourly rate range would be $31.58 to $41.05. These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined.

Duties & Responsibilities- Create and review test plans and execute testing efforts on assigned projects working closely with test team, stakeholders, developers, platform engineers, project managers and/or Scrum Masters. Identify and clearly document defects, supporting the full defect lifecycle.
- Analyze requirements, user stories and other input documents quickly to develop applicable manual and/or automated test cases. Work independently and within Agile project teams to provide guidance and recommendations to business stakeholders and management for risk remediation.
- Provide input to configuration management processes and ensure effective product release. Assist with troubleshooting/replication of production incidents, and identification of possible workarounds to resolve issues where needed.
- Gather and apply domain knowledge of the assigned area to ensure requirements are complete and testable. Communicate effectively with members of Software Development and other project related groups to ensure project objectives are met.
- May design, develop or modify SQL code or other computer programs including but not limited to automated tests that address the needs and requirements of the university.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of XML, SOAP, REST, web service technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, .NET and Azure.
- Knowledge of AWS.
- Knowledge of test case management systems, issue/defect tracking systems and defect life cycle.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of various Software Development Life Cycle methodologies including Agile and iterative techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Working knowledge of various Software Development Life Cycle methodologies, including Agile and iterative techniques.
- 4+ years of work experience in software quality assurance or equivalent training and education.
- Experience in multi-platform testing.
