Principal Security Engineer

Svalbard Security is a Vancouver-based cyber security firm specializing in designing and implementing Security Operations Centers (SOCs) that are robust, reliable, and affordable. This is a full-time hybrid role for a Principal Security Engineer at Svalbard Security. The Principal Security Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing application security measures, network security protocols, cybersecurity strategies, and information security systems. Some remote work is acceptable for this position.

• Application Security as a main area of responsibility.
• Network Security and Information Security expertise.
• Experience in designing and implementing security solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH is must.
• Publications or contributions to open-source projects related to Cybersecurity World.
• Familiarity with algorithms for decision-making under uncertainty, including Bayesian networks, Markov decision processes, or reinforcement learning.
• Strong interest in ciphering, elliptic curves and applied maths.

The expected salary range for this role is $180,000 - $220,000 CAD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the interview process, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
