This is an opportunity to join a nationally recognized, employee-focused AEC consulting firm known for delivering complex infrastructure, engineering, and design projects that improve communities across the country. The organization is in a growth phase and investing heavily in enterprise technology, cybersecurity, and infrastructure modernization. This role offers strong visibility with executive leadership, hands-on technical leadership, and a clear path to step into a Director-level position.
You’ll play a key role shaping enterprise IT strategy while supporting cutting-edge design and engineering technology environments.
- Provide strategic and operational IT leadership in partnership with the IT Director, supporting enterprise-wide technology initiatives.
- Oversee IT infrastructure, systems, and operations across headquarters and 20+ remote offices.
- Lead and optimize complex Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments, including GPU-enabled workloads supporting advanced design applications.
- Manage server, storage, virtualization, and network operations to ensure scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Lead system upgrades, migrations, integrations, and modernization initiatives across hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.
- Drive cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring protection of company and client data and maintaining compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, including government-related projects.
- Collaborate with business leaders, project teams, and technical stakeholders to align IT strategy with operational needs and growth initiatives.
- Lead adoption and optimization of collaboration platforms including Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop IT team members, fostering strong technical and leadership capabilities.
- Provide operational leadership in the absence of the IT Director.
- Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and service-level agreements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in leadership or management roles.
- Strong technical expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, and Exchange Online.
- Experience managing virtualization and enterprise VDI environments.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking, firewalls, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience supporting complex design or engineering technology environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Strong communication, vendor management, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage distributed IT environments across multiple locations.
- Business-focused approach with a strong emphasis on enabling operational excellence and company growth.
