RoleWe’re looking for a 3rd Line Applications Support Analyst who’s technically capable and enjoys questioning how things are done, bringing fresh ideas to the table. You’ll be responsible for complex problem-solving, support deployments and data migrations, and contribute to improvements across core systems such as CASH, Business Central (Finance, Payroll, CRM), and SQL Server. You’ll also explore modern tools like APIs, automation, and Python to shape smarter, more efficient ways of working and challenge existing processes to drive innovation across the organisation through AI, automation, and better integrations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 3rd line support across core business applications including CASH, Time Gate, Business Central, and related SQL Server environments.
- Performing root cause analysis on complex technical issues and delivering recommendations for long-term fixes.
- Managing incidents and workload through Service Now, ensuring all tickets meet agreed SLAs.
- Supporting and contributing to IT project delivery, offering technical expertise where required.
- Leading on data consolidation and migration, including analysing Advantage databases and ensuring accurate data flow into ERP (BC14).
- Designing and implementing data integrations, ensuring seamless connectivity between applications and ERP systems.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including migration steps, support processes, and integration workflows.
- Leveraging modern technologies (AI, automation, APIs, Python) to enhance system performance and introduce smarter ways of working.
- Supporting release and deployment management, assisting with software packaging, change requests, and environment updates.
- Participating in service introduction and out-of-hours support as part of the Applications Support team rotation.

Essential Experience
- Minimum of 5 years IT Support experience.
- Extensive SQL Server knowledge including Microsoft SQL Server all versions.
- Advantage DB server knowledge.
- Knowledge of Oracle Cloud services is an advantage.
- Database performance tuning and optimization (DMVs, Query Explanation Plan).
- Expert-level T-SQL skills.
- Ability to write and debug Stored Procedures.
- Use of SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.
- Solution- and delivery-oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of Visual Studio.
- Database Release Management.
- Experience and a good working knowledge of application performance.
- ITIL Service and Support qualification is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience of working in an IT Support environment is required.

Legacy Applications, CASH, Time Gate and Business Central (Finance, Payroll, CRM) and all Application Interfaces. - Mainly working from home with one day per week in office, either Milton Keynes or Birmingham. Occasional travel in accordance with business and project requirements.
