Consulting Role: Senior Agile Coach ()
Remote work with four (4) onsite facilitation visits in Victoria. Candidates will need to be local to Victoria or within a reasonable commute distance due to the four onsite facilitation visits.
Duration: 12 months
Hourly contract rate: DOE.
Seeking an experienced Agile Coach to support a team of teams environment delivering priority connected services. The coach will work across multiple teams to build Agile maturity, improve coordination, and support alignment on shared outcomes. Includes mentoring POs and teams, facilitating cross team planning and ceremonies, and guiding organizational adoption of Agile practices. Hybrid work environment, with up to four in-person facilitations required in Victoria, B.C.
Description and Contract Details:
The Agile Coach will provide coaching, facilitation, and delivery support across multiple product teams contributing to interconnected provincial services.
Responsibilities include:
Coaching & Mentoring:
- Coach teams, product owners, scrum masters and leaders in Agile values, principles, roles, and ceremonies.
- Mentor product owners in backlog prioritization, refinement, and engagement with stakeholders.
- Support teams in self organization, collaboration, continuous improvement, and constructive conflict resolution.
Team of Teams / Connected Services Support:
- Facilitate cross team alignment across streams delivering connected services.
- Lead or support multi team planning, roadmap sessions, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Identify and assist in resolving cross team dependencies, risks, and delivery challenges.
Assessment & Continuous Improvement:
- Assess team structures and delivery processes and recommend improvements.
- Recommend and help implement Agile frameworks, tools, and practices that enhance collaboration and delivery flow.
- Introduce or refine delivery metrics (e.g., velocity, flow measures, predictability) to track progress and improvement.
Change Management & Organizational Support:
- Support organizational adoption of Agile practices and alignment with public sector governance frameworks.
- Facilitate workshops and large group planning or visioning sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
Ceremonies & Facilitation:
- Lead or support Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Facilitate workshops and coordination meetings to support alignment and delivery.
Documentation & Tools:
- Support teams in documenting requirements, decisions, and delivery artefacts using tools such as Jira, and Confluence.
Anticipated Deliverables:
- Coaching plans and Agile maturity guidance for multiple delivery teams.
- Facilitation of cross team planning, retrospectives, workshops, and alignment sessions.
- Recommendations and documentation for team structure, process improvements, and Agile practice alignment.
- Regular reporting on Agile maturity, delivery metrics, and progress across teams.
- Documentation of decisions and processes using Agile tools.
- Knowledge transfer to internal staff to ensure sustainable Agile adoption.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Agile Certification such as Scrum Alliance
- Minimum of 10-years working in related field in Information Technology which will include the following:
- Minimum 5 years of experience providing Agile coaching services.
- Demonstrated experience coaching teams in Agile values, principles, ceremonies, and roles.
- Experience assessing and improving team structures and delivery processes.
- Experience facilitating large scale planning and strategic workshops.
- Experience in or understanding of public or regulated sector environments.
- Strong communication, facilitation, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience coaching in scaled Agile or multiteam environments
- Experience working with connected services, cross ministry programs, or complex delivery environments.
- Experience with Agile product and delivery tools (Jira, Confluence, digital delivery frameworks).
