About the Data Platform team

The Data Platform team is part of the unit Information Security & IT Services and designs, builds, and maintains our enterprise data environment.

About the role

This is a unique role that combines strategic architecture ownership with hands‑on data engineering in a modern Azure environment. If you enjoy setting direction while staying close to the technology — and you want your work to contribute to positive social impact — this role offers both purpose and challenge.

You will design the future data landscape of Oikocredit, set architectural standards, implement robust data pipelines, and ensure our data platform is secure, scalable, and ready to support both today’s needs and tomorrow’s advanced analytics and AI ambitions.

Key responsibilities

Data Strategy & Architecture

  • Develop the data architecture strategy and roadmap aligned with business goals.
  • Design scalable architectures for integration, storage, and access — including Lakehouse solutions.
  • Ensure the data ecosystem is secure, high‑performing, and cost‑efficient.
  • Create reference architectures, blueprints, and standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend data platforms, tools, and emerging technologies.
  • Align solutions with enterprise architecture and provide guidance to engineering teams.

  • Develop and maintain enterprise‑level conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Design analytical and Lakehouse data models that support reporting, analytics, and operational needs.
  • Ensure consistency and reusability across models and domains.

Governance & Compliance

  • Define data governance frameworks for quality, metadata, and lineage.
  • Establish standards for modelling, documentation, naming conventions, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with Information Security on access, encryption, and auditability.

Data Engineering

  • Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure tools.
  • Automate and optimize data workflows for batch and real‑time use cases.
  • Ensure pipelines are resilient, observable, version‑controlled, and maintainable.
  • Support CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, and Data Ops practices.

Data Quality & Monitoring

  • Implement validation, cleansing, and automated data quality checks.
  • Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting across the data platform.
  • Analyse and resolve issues, driving continuous improvement.
Education, skills and experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years designing and implementing data platforms and data engineering solutions.
  • Expertise in data architecture principles and data modelling.
  • Hands‑on experience with Azure Data Factory, ADLS, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with warehouses, Lakehouse architectures, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with IaC (Terraform/Bicep), CI/CD, Git Hub Actions, and Data Ops.
  • Knowledge of data governance and metadata management.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills
