Responsibilities
  • Analyze, transcribe, and annotate speech and linguistic data using phonetic principles and IPA notation.
  • Support the development, testing, and evaluation of speech recognition and synthesis systems.
  • Collaborate with linguists, engineers, and researchers to refine pronunciation databases and language resources.
  • Assist in curating, organizing, and maintaining audio datasets for language technology projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project documentation, reports, and training materials.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in all phonetic transcriptions and annotations.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with advancements in phonetics and language technology.

    Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Phonetics, Applied Linguistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Solid understanding of phonetic theory, IPA, and speech sound classification.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform precise linguistic analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear, concise documentation abilities.
  • Comfort working collaboratively in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new tools and techniques relevant to phonetics and language technology.
  • Proficiency with productivity software and willingness to learn industry-specific tools.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with speech technology, such as ASR or TTS systems, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with language data annotation tools or linguistic software.
  • Previous internship, academic project, or coursework in computational linguistics or related area.
