Job Description & How to Apply Below

Aechelon Technology, Inc. is a leading producer of 3D simulator content, including Geo‑specific visual/sensor databases and realistic 3D models. We seek people who share our passion for real‑time computer graphics and commitment to our mission of helping make our Nation’s pilots safer. We will give you a chance to work with some of the most talented people in the graphics industry.

Our Software team is looking for a QA Tester II to help us in our mission. The role supports our Software, Database, and Systems Engineering teams by testing our proprietary Image Generator (pc‑Nova) through a combination of automated and manual testing. This position tests new and existing features to ensure that pc‑Nova performs at high frame rates on high‑end hardware such as projectors and MR headsets.

During the COVID‑19 pandemic, Aechelon successfully transitioned to a Hybrid Work model for a majority of employees. Because this position requires the use of in‑office specialized hardware—including MR headsets and 120

Hz testing configurations—the Hybrid Work requirement consists of 2 days per week in‑office at our Kansas location, with the remaining 3 days per week working remotely from a home office.

United States citizenship required due to restrictions on access to certain data.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the software and hardware components of our automated test system.
  • Triage automated test error logs and gather additional information to write bug reports.
  • Develop test plans and design automated tests using our proprietary test system.
  • Perform manual testing on existing and new features for software releases.
  • Research and report bugs in JIRA.
  • Support test requests from engineers during product development by providing early testing of new features.
  • Communicate with other team members across time zones.
  • Be a resource for others learning how to use our products.
  • Help document our runtime and integration tools for internal and external users.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 4 years’ experience testing 3D graphics applications and/or content creation tools.
  • Solid understanding of 3D graphics concepts.
  • Good eye that can notice both technical and aesthetic problems with software.
  • Proven ability to find bugs during manual testing, research them, and create well‑documented bug reports.
  • Experience with project management for software using JIRA (or similar).
  • Experience using command prompts (DOS, Bash, etc.).
  • Experience authoring test plans and writing automated tests.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and communication skills and tenacity to follow through.
  • Eligibility to work with export‑controlled technology.
Bonus Points
  • Computer Science background with Python or C++ programming experience.
  • Video game testing experience.
  • Experience with flight simulation software.
  • Experience with VR or MR headset configuration/testing.
  • Experience with JIRA, Perforce, Visual Studio, Jenkins, Bash, Git Hub.
  • Experience writing technical documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of 3D modeling, GIS, geospatial or geotypical content creation.
Compensation

$90,000 – $105,000 per year. The above range is specific to California and may not apply to other locations. Final compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.

Benefits

We offer a very attractive compensation package including competitive base salary, company performance‑based profit sharing, 401(k), and 100% employer‑paid health benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD, and various insurance plans).
