Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain new efficient/expansive rating systems and related models in Excel and in Python. The role includes a core programming component to build and steer models effectively.
  • Build and maintain risk/simulation models to analyze and steer the business.
  • Research ways to leverage industry data to enhance current rating, filings, and provide guidance to underwriting.
  • Develop complex analyses of underwriting, operations, business development, product performance, and user experience.
  • Assist the data science, operations, and insurance teams with ad hoc analysis, data normalization, data cleansing, and process improvement.
  • Support the integration and production of new data sources to minimize development cycles while maximizing business applications.
  • Continuously challenge how underwriting and operations can be improved.
  • Maintain a clean production environment so data models can be interpreted and extended by other data science and engineering teammates.
  • Present work, findings, and opinions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of total work experience.
  • Bachelor or Master in a quantitative discipline (computer science, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, physics, engineering, or related field).
  • ACAS or FCAS preferred (hybrid actuarial and analytics role).
  • Experience and interest in data science techniques (e.g., machine learning).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in building the future.
  • Preferred: domain knowledge in management/professional liability.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, estimate timelines, and keep team/documentation updated.
  • Experience with cloud computing and cloud databases (e.g., AWS, Snowflake).
  • Passion for solving challenging mathematical problems and exploring new ML tools and technologies.
  • 2+ years of Python experience.
  • Strong communication skills to translate technical results into business recommendations.
  • Bias toward practical action and data-driven creativity.

Estimated pay range for this role is $160,000 to $180,000. Base salary determined by market data, location, internal equity, and experience.
