About the Role:
As the Senior Product Manager for High Resolution Imagery Products, you will own the strategy and roadmap for how we collect, process, and deliver global high resolution imagery. This role bridges satellite operations, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure our core imagery product delivers maximum value to customers who rely on rapid revisit high resolution imagery for insights and decision-making. The ideal candidate has a passion for applying Earth Observation to solve global challenges.
This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week
Impact You'll Own:
- Define and drive the end-to-end product strategy for high resolution imagery, aligning with company priorities and customer needs
- Evolve product requirements for Planet's newly released Pelican mission and strategically make product decisions to ensure a smooth transition to Pelican from Sky Sat
- Define collection and product requirements for low-latency, high-res systems
- Prioritize improvements in cadence, image quality, coverage, cost, and latency, in support of company priorities
- Partner with image processing, quality, and engineering teams to improve imagery quality and delivery pipelines
- Analyze usage patterns and customer feedback to drive iteration on how we serve specific customer use cases and Planet solutions.
- Interface with Platform and Tasking teams to drive delivery requirements for high-res missions
- Define success metrics and use data-driven insights to guide product decisions and communicate impact
- Champion the voice of the customer to ensure our imagery products enable solutions across industries and use cases
What You Bring:
- 6+ years of product management experience, ideally in Earth Observation, geospatial, or related technical domains.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Excellent understanding of satellite imagery, remote sensing, or large-scale data products.
- Experience balancing technical trade-offs and customer needs in complex product ecosystems.
- Ability to align diverse stakeholders around strategy, priorities, and execution.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Superb analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-informed decision-making approach.
- Experience effectively collaborating with Engineering teams and delivering results.
- Experience working with and meeting the needs of customers.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience with high-resolution, tasked EO products.
- Background in remote sensing science, image processing, or geospatial data analysis.
- Experience building and scaling core data or imagery products that serve multiple market segments.
- Experience working closely with operations teams and understanding the realities of satellite or sensor constraints.
