Cybersecurity, Systems Engineer

As an IT Operations Engineer, you will ensure the reliability, security, and peak performance of core IT infrastructure by operating at the intersection of traditional systems administration and modern cloud operations. This role is critical to supporting compliance readiness and enabling scalable, secure systems across a rapidly growing healthcare technology organization.
You will take ownership of production environment stability, proactively design resilient systems, and leverage automation to eliminate manual workflows. Beyond troubleshooting, you will drive the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and act as a technical partner to Product, Engineering, and Security teams to implement robust monitoring, disaster recovery, and change management strategies.
Primary Responsibilities Hybrid Infrastructure & Identity- Support deployment of high-availability cloud architectures.
- Assist with migration from on-premises Active Directory to Microsoft Entra .
- Maintain modern cloud networking across Azure and AWS environments.
- Automate manual tasks using Power Shell and Python.
- Manage and modernize Azure-based VDI and compute infrastructure.
- Monitor global system health using Datadog, Wiz, and Sumo Logic.
- Contribute to incident response, root-cause analysis (RCA), and monitoring framework improvements.
- Administer firewalls, execute automated patching schedules, and perform security monitoring.
- Maintain audit readiness for ITGC, SOX, and SOC II standards.
- Validate Disaster Recovery (DR) and business continuity plans.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and SOPs.
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in IT operations or similar roles with demonstrated expertise in system administration and cloud network management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on user satisfaction and system efficiency.
- Proficiency in Azure and AWS environments.
- Experience with IT compliance frameworks (SOC II, SOX, HIPAA).
- Familiarity with Zscaler and Crowd Strike.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- "Go-getter" mindset with ability to take ownership and drive solutions in fast-paced environments.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethesda, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $46.00/hr.
