We are seeking an experienced IT leader to oversee our Data Operations team. The Manager of Data Operations will be responsible for guiding a team of Database Administrators (DBAs) and Data Engineers (DEs), ensuring the stability, integrity, and optimal performance of the organization’s enterprise data platforms. This role will manage day-to-day operations across both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments, oversee the full database lifecycle, and ensure security patches are applied in a timely manner in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team & Operations Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Oracle and SQL Server DBAs
- Manage daily operations, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance of all database environments
- Provide strategic direction for database infrastructure and operations
- Oversee DBA workload, task prioritization, and resource allocation
Database Management
- Ensure efficient database architecture, installation, configuration, upgrades, and backups
- Oversee performance tuning and monitoring activities to proactively prevent and resolve database issues
- Establish standards and procedures for database administration
Security and Compliance
- Coordinate and ensure timely application of database security patches across Oracle and SQL Server systems
- Monitor for vulnerabilities and partner with Info Sec to ensure databases meet internal security standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOX, SOC)
- Enforce access controls, audit logging, and data encryption strategies
Project Support
- Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and business teams to support data-related projects
- Provide expertise in database capacity planning, scalability, and data migration strategies
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain documentation for database procedures, patching schedules, inventory, and configurations
- Produce regular reports on database performance, uptime, and security compliance
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred - 7+ years of experience in database administration, with 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role
- Proven expertise with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server platforms in enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning, replication, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR)
- Hands‑on experience with tools for monitoring, backups, and patch management
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
