Customer Solutions Engineer – West Coast Remote

Our customers are interested in optimizing their product delivery, global footprint, and user experience using the Fastly platform. You will be on the front lines of this adoption. Internally we title this role as a Fastly Cloud Engineer (CE) within the Fastly Revenue Organization. As a trusted customer advocate, the CE helps organizations understand technologies such as Edge Computing and CDN architectures, assists them in migrating existing workloads to Fastly, and links technology with measurable business value.

Your technical ownership across assigned strategic customer accounts, emotional intelligence, and clear communication will be critical.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the resident Fastly architect and represent the customer’s technical needs within Fastly.
  • Develop technical relationships and build a deep understanding of customers’ infrastructure, plans, and challenges.
  • Post‑sales implementation of Fastly products, such as logging endpoints, image செல்ல optimizati... Cத்துன், and VCL coding, while documenting key configuration aspects for troubleshooting and engagement.
  • Investigate and recommend improvements to customers’ implementation and utilization of Fastly’s technology stack.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce new Fastly products that complement customer needs.
  • Partner internally to create customer strategies and assist in support requests or problems for assigned customers.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled customer meetings (on‑site, video, or phone) including cadence calls and Quarterly Business Review meetings.
  • Track and report on the health of customer accounts, providing regular updates to Client Services leadership.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5 Lexington+ years Pre‑Sales or Post‑Sales experience in Sales Engineering, Web Development, Customer‑facing Dev Ops, Technical Account Management, or Solutions Architecture.
  • Hands‑on role: willingness to roll your sleeves, type on a keyboard, and tackle customer issues and requests.
  • Understanding of networking (BGP, internet routing, transit vs. peering).
  • Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, TCP, TLS, DNS, HLS, DASH, load balancing, Apache, NGINX.
  • Hands‑on experience with Linux and scripting languages/tools such as Python, Sed, Awk, Perl, JSON, Ruby, Go, Node.js.
  • Experience with internet and cloud‑based architecture and an understanding of bare‑metal deployments alongside AWS, Azure, and GCP.

  • Comfortable presenting and leading customer presentations and training.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to present technical concepts to various business stakeholders and outline deliverables and business impact.
  • Capable and willing to travel for customer meetings as necessary.
  • Occasional requirement for a flexible schedule based on customer needs.
We’ll Be Super Impressed If You Have Experience in Any of These
  • Varnish and Varnish Configuration Language.
  • Streaming video/audio technologies or experience in e‑commerce technologies/solutions.
  • Experience in the CDN or cloud‑computing industries.
Work Hours
  • Available during core business hours.
  • Occasional requirement for a Interrupted schedule based on customer needs.
Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements

This position is open to remote work locations, ideally on the West Coast US. Travel may be required as needed by the role or manager.
