Senior Distinguished Engineer; Remote-Eligible

Position: Senior Distinguished Engineer (Remote-Eligible)

You have a record of taking a strategic and systematic approach to challenging technical problems and seeing them to completion. Your technical expertise often influences product direction. You foster a culture of technical excellence and help other engineers grow.
* Distributed systems expert. Building, scaling, and modernizing business critical applications across a wide range of domains. From legacy to modern system architectures, you have delivered massive business results and is able to adapt to changing technology and effectively evaluate tradeoffs
* Work with a vast range of other technical topics, including backend development, Dev Ops, Microservices, containers, mobile development, web development.
* Focused on Users:
You always start with the needs of the user, whether they are Capital One consumers or internal engineers before architecting a solution.
* Articulate and evangelize a bold technical vision for your domain
* Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions
* Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation
* Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics, such as performance, scalability and operability
* Continue learning and injecting advanced technical knowledge into our community
* Handle several projects simultaneously, balancing your time to maximize impact
* Act as a role model and mentor within the tech community, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community
* Bachelor’s Degree
* At least 9 years of experience in General software Software engineering and solution architecture
* At least 9 years of experience in Enterprise architecture and design patterns
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
* 10+ years of experience in coding with commonly used  languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/Type Script, Swift
* 10+ years of experience in full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support
* 5+ years of experience with public or private cloud technologies
