Our responsibilities include coordinating information gathering and dissemination to a variety of audiences for a variety of purposes.

One of our goals is to create ways of doing this that are accurate, efficient, and result in information that drives new insights and business value.

The ideal Sr. IT Project Manager is responsible for the management of large, complex, and highly visible information technology and data projects with UW-Madison. This role will assemble and motivate project teams, manage communications and relationships with key stakeholders, capture and manage project risks, issues, decisions, and budget. The Sr. IT Project Manager will consult with Data, Academic Planning, and Institutional Research (DAPIR) leadership in planning for, defining the scope of, and strategy for, major information technology projects.

The preferred candidate will have a history of successful data project implementations, ideally with a focus on cloud architecture, data warehousing, and in-depth data analysis. Strong project leadership, professionalism, and coordination across many diverse stakeholder groups including vendor partnerships will be essential. Sr. IT Project managers will have regular contact with campus leaders, directors, faculty and staff as we collaborate on initiating solutions, planning courses of action, and executing and controlling business and technology projects that affect students, staff and employees campus wide.

The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved flexible work arrangement (FWA) agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.

This position will primarily work remote but may need to come to campus occasionally for planned meetings, retreats, or workshops.

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is an exciting and dynamic work environment grounded in organizational principles that include family and personal life/work balance; an inclusive, respectful, and supportive work environment; professional development opportunities; innovation; and alignment with the campus's teaching, learning, and research missions.
