Junior Information Security Analyst

Salary: £23 UMB Per hour (£18 PAYE)
We are advertising this role on behalf of our client, a leading charity dedicated to supporting children, young people and families.
About the RoleOur client is seeking a Junior Information Security Analyst to join their small, dynamic Information Security team. In this role, you will provide hands‑on support to run day‑to‑day security operations, assist with incident response, and deliver practical improvements that protect the charity's people, data, and services. You will work closely with Technology, Information Governance/DPO colleagues, and external security partners to reduce risk, maintain clear assurance records, and help staff work securely.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their information security career to gain broad exposure and grow professionally in a values‑led environment.
- Support day‑to‑day information security operations, carrying out routine checks and logging issues
- Assist with security incidents, including evidence gathering and coordinating follow‑up actions
- Support vulnerability management and secure configuration with Technology teams
- Assist with identity and access management tasks, including joiner/mover/leaver processing and access reviews
- Support data protection measures to prevent accidental loss or unauthorised disclosure of information
- Assist with supplier due diligence, collecting assurance evidence and tracking agreed improvements
- Help deliver security awareness initiatives, such as phishing simulations and staff guidance
- Maintain assurance, risk, and audit records
- Contribute to process improvements and runbook maintenance
- Produce management information and KPIs, including incident and awareness metrics
- Support security input for procurement and onboarding activities
- Keep skills current and progress training and professional certifications
- Experience in IT or information security‑related roles (service desk, operations, infrastructure) with exposure to security tasks
- Understanding of basic security principles (least privilege, secure configuration, incident handling)
- Familiarity with cloud and SaaS environments
- Clear written and verbal communication, able to explain technical points to non‑technical colleagues
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise workload
- Experience following procedures, maintaining runbooks, or managing assurance evidence
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Experience in charity, regulated or public sector environments
- Exposure to supplier security questionnaires or procurement processes
- Familiarity with common security control frameworks
- Working towards or holding a relevant IT/security qualification (e.g., Security+, SSCP, Network+) or equivalent practical experience
