As an Engineering Manager at Pixieset, you’ll lead a talented team building impactful features for our all-in-one platform trusted by over a million photographers worldwide. You’ll drive high-quality delivery in a production environment, balancing innovation with strong execution, reliability, and maintainability.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with Product and Design to translate customer needs into thoughtful solutions, while investing deeply in people leadership: developing Engineers, supporting Tech Leads, and building a motivated, high-performing team culture. You’ll guide technical decisions and help raise the bar on engineering practices across observability, security, and continuous delivery, with clear ownership of operational outcomes.

Your Impact
Lead and develop a team of Software Developers, while mentoring and supporting Tech Leads to drive success across their teamsRun regular 1:1s and support performance and growth conversations to motivate, develop, and retain team membersPartner with Talent Acquisition to hire and onboard new talent, ensuring a strong and scalable engineering organizationOwn and be accountable for application security, reliability, and uptime metrics, driving continuous improvementImprove and maintain strong observability practices through effective dashboards, logging, alerting, and incident learningsStay current on software development and UX trends, evaluating tools and technologies that improve developer productivity and quality of lifeCollaborate closely with Product and Design to align on priorities, clarify requirements, and deliver the right outcomesEvaluate and optimize engineering processes to improve delivery predictability, project efficiency, and timelinesProvide technical guidance and hands-on support to help teams navigate complex implementation decisionsIdentify and address group-level process gaps, guiding cross-team alignment to ensure work runs smoothly end-to-endProvide oversight on complex and high-risk initiatives, maintaining day-to-day awareness of progress and risks, removing roadblocks, and partnering with leadership to drive solutionsRole
Requirements
5+ years of hands-on software development experience and ability to deliver high-quality production software3+ years managing direct reports, including coaching, feedback, performance management, and supporting career growth with measurable impactStrong technical judgment, able to review technical proposals and code, and provide clear, actionable feedback through the senior levelProven ability to design and deliver high-volume, highly available, scalable backend services and web applicationsApplies Agile practices, modern Dev Ops approaches, and security best practices to enable reliable, efficient delivery and strong operational outcomesBroad technical expertise across multiple languages and cloud platforms, with the ability to solve complex engineering challenges and guide technical directionDemonstrates exceptional leadership maturity, empathy, interpersonal effectiveness, and cross-functional communication, building trust and alignment across teamsTrack record of building, growing, and retaining high-performing teams, leading by example and raising the bar for engineering excellenceThrives in fast-paced, continuous delivery environments - high ownership, strong attention to detail, and a passion for building world-class software and teamworkWhat We Offer
